Perfect Timing

Last week I gave another Design Management seminar at my local university where I’ve recently been appointed as a Professor for Design Management. What most under-graduate students are interested in are studies about user habits and other related market research documents.

Via ‘Jaffe Juice Blog I’ve been directed to a study conducted by BBDO consisting of 5,000 people in 26 countries about their daily routines or ‘rituals’. While I agree with Joseph’s categorization:

The study identifies 5 primary categories:
1. Preparing for battle AKA waking up and getting ready for work
2. Feasting AKA Eating
3. Sexing Up AKA Grooming
4. Returning to Camp AKA Going home
5. Protecting yourself for the future AKA Going to bed

and conclusion that these are not too surprising I do think that the study summary over at AdvertisingAge shares some quite interesting details:

“Most people wait for the weekend to have sex, with 31% opting for Saturday, 10% on Friday and 9% on Sunday. Only 1% of people have sex on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. The hottest time of day is after 10 p.m., when 33% of people prefer to get intimate.”

Thank god it’s Tuesday and tonight they show the season finale of ‘Desperate Housewifes’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ ;-)

“ … However set in stone our routines may be, there are always opportunities for clever marketers to infiltrate rituals and seek out moments when they may be disrupted.”

Have a nice weekend … soon!
