From Blogs to (Real World) Conversations

In early June I’ve blogged about “reboot8.0” a conference on “the intersection of digital technology and change” which I’d have loved to attend. Unfortunately I couldn’t join this year, but yesterday Ton Zijlstra and I celebrated an informative “reboot de-brief” here in Münster at my favorite Bagel Cafe.

While you can read the short anecdote about the circumstances we’ve got in touch in Ton’s Blog since yesterday after a more than 4 hours chat I knew why so many people talk about the “reboot spirit”. I’ve experienced Ton as the ideal character the reboot forum is attracting. Accordingly the conversation can be best described by the reboot tagline: “A journey into the interconnectedness of creation, participation, values, openness, decentralization, collaboration, complexity, technology, p2p, humanities, connectedness and many more areas.”

From my perspective Ton is a very visionary, but still realistic thinker about a different approach to work life balance, sharing knowledge and creating (economic & personal) value. His roots are in electronic engineering and he’s working as a knowledge management consultant at Proven Partners, “Netherland’s most mobile company”. Interestingly (and somehow in contrast to his formal background) at reboot8.0 together with his colleagues Martin Roell and Lee Bryant Ton addressed such an inspiring and challenging topic like: “Diversity as engine for a European innovative culture”.

Let’s see what will develop out of this (now) real world contact ;-) Ton already made the proposal to submit a presentation/paper for the GOR 2007 conference

First, was any of the four hour conversation in English? If so I would have wished to sit and listen. If not, I would still have listened but I a sure I would have order a bagel to keep my occupied.

Seriously, great to read your posting.

That’s a long tagline for reboot! “Netherland’s most mobile company” is shorter and more memorable.

    Keep posting…and creating,
    Mike

    Hi Michael,
actually the conversation was German except for a number of buzz-words and some jargon. It could have been in English just as well though.
