Wikipedia entry on Design Management

Gee, its seems as if I’ve been caught by the flu; at least it feels like it ;-(

Therefore today only a short pointer to a quite new Wikipedia entry about design management. It came to my first time attention some weeks ago while I’ve studied my server log files and noticed several referrers from this entry to Vol. 2: design-management.de

On one hand I really appreciate this initiative (even though I have no idea so far who’s actually edited the article; any interest to get in touch just in case the author reads this post?). On the other hand the article raises several issues which I would like to discuss here on this blog once I’m doing well again.

So in the meantime I would love to read your comments on my latest posting about “What is Design Management?

    Hi Ralf,

hope you are back and doing well again. Thanks hereby for your great blog, which I follow with interest. My intention to write the Wikipedia entry was similar to your intention to answer the “killer question” for Annkathrin Sonn at the Zollverein blog. Based also on this, I was curious to read your post on “what is design management”, which I saw first at the blog of Zollverein and later also here. The approach of the semantic distinction to answer the question, what design management is about, is widely used but also lead us to the question if design management is more related to design or to management, which caused (and is causing) also some problems in understanding the term design management. Would be interesting to see if this distinction is more helpful or harmful or if this distinction makes sense at all. But back to the article at Wikipedia on design management. Certainly, the text represents only a individual point of view, therefore I would love to discuss different approaches here on this blog. I would appreciate also your initiatives to add and edit the Wikipedia article to articulate a more generic point of view, if anyone want, the article is of course open as every Wiki entry. To trigger the discussion here I would like to recall also the viewpoint of Jörg Walters and the comment of Sabine in the post “Swarms pipelines design thinking and heraclitus” on this blog last year beside Ralf’s post “what is design management” and the wikipedia entry. Ralf, what are the issues you want to refer to? Looking forward to a nice discussion and to see you on the DMI conference.

    Best, Florian
