together with the german design council (note: this is a PDF-link to the conference flyer ~ 1MB) the junior chamber international (section of germany) [for the international section >>>] organised the second conference on retail design at the POS. the event will take place at the Medienhafen Düsseldorf, Plange Mühle 1, ehemals Weizenmühlenstraße 21, on october 28th, 2004 (which is tomorrow ;-)
a roster of speakers, among them the design legend Matteo Thun and Steve Haggarty, Managing Creative Director Brand Experience, Enterprise IG, London will talk about new approaches to create an accentuated presence at the point of sale. the current situation and this is true for most european countries is characterised by a highly competitive situation with a growing number of very often similar products. virtual shops on the web or as seen during recent years, flagship stores in main capitals seem to be only two apporaches to address this challenge.
developing distinctive solutions while preserving close bonds to customers just seems to be one element for a comprehensive design management process. in any case I’m looking forward to participating at this exciting event tomorrow. in any case I will post about the outcomes in the upcoming weeks.
