this month hasn’t been an active one in terms of posting news. however during the last years it turned out that springtime is the busiest time of the year. consequently several other commercial projects kept me busy. next month will be better, promised ;-)
today I would like to remind you on the upcoming academic forum of the Design Management Institute (DMI) named “International Conference on Innovation by Brand and Design Management”. the good news is that due to its joint venture character (the Design Management Institute, the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies—Brand Management Institute, and the Design and Brand Management Society) the forum will cover a broad variety of topics and themes. the adversarial news is that it’s going to take place in Seoul, South-Korea. o.k. it always depends from where you fly in ;-)
in any case the geographical location reflects the rising significance of asia not only in economic terms, but also in regard to design management knowledge and education. here is what the DMI website is saying:
“Recently, the world has entered a new era of boundless competition. Not to be outdone, Asia has gained greater significance in the world economy with its emerging economic prosperity and vivacity. Against this backdrop, the Design Management Institute, the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies—Brand Management Institute, and the Design and Brand Management Society are joining hands together to host an international conference in Seoul dedicated to promoting the importance of integrating brand and design management. This occasion holds significance as three different organizations from different nations are joining forces to promote a single mission of raising awareness about the productive synergy that arises when brand and design integrate with corporate management. The Conference on Innovation by Brand and Design Management will be a forum for exchanges of ideas and best practices among participants from around the world, and the conference proceedings and results will help participants better understand ways to integrate brand and design for better management. … Program sessions will include research papers, case studies, panel discussions and poster presentations in ten research tracks.”
