this afternoon I experienced a real design management community coincidence. I was googling for more detailed information about peter gorb (I’ll come back to this soon) for a lecture I give at the fachhochschule solothurn/switzerland for their “Executive Master of Corporate Identity & Design Management” on saturday this weekend.
at the same time david griffiths a design management consultant from london with a comprehensive design management network in the UK provided me with the same link I discovered simultaneously at google. good teamwork: thanks david ;-)
the great site I found is called “DesignThinkers” which is edited by “The Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario (RGD Ontario/Canada)”. since 2000 the RGD organizes a yearly conference each filled with a roster of design experts in their field and an audience of 300+ design professionals.
well, in 2001 peter gorb, a life fellow of the design management institute (DMI) and a pioneer in design management education, was one of the speakers. fortunately the RGD offers free transcripts of these speeches. therefore you’ll also find peter’s on their website.
while I met peter gorb two years ago in boston for dinner I found it really fascinating listening to him. his stories are filled with passion, deep knowledge of the topic and a smart sense of irony. as professionals and academics we can still learn a lot from him. therefore enjoy his insights into the topic, read his lecture and listen to a snippet of his talk. >>>
