what comes to your mind first if you hear the term “design management”? — certainly notions like: value creation, management of design resources, strategic use of design, design the management process, etc … immediately pop up.

one central insight from this spontaneous brainstorming is that design management is rather a conceptual construct than a specific management approach. some even say it’s a mental attitude rather than a specific skill. in any case this at least explains the spectrum of discussions gathered around this concept.
