Who is this Ralf Beuker guy? | Vitae short

You bet: My name is Ralf Beuker and I’m an active member of the Design Management community for several years now. I hold a diploma in Business Administration from the University of Paderborn, Germany; beside my business projects I’m a Professor for Design Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Münster, Germany.

My professional background is based on the areas of Strategy Consultancy, Design Management Research and Understanding Technological Innovation. I was a research fellow at the Design Management Institute (DMI), Boston, in 1998 and I gave several talks at DMI conferences over a period of years.

For more than 7 years I’ve been lecturing for all leading post-graduate Design Management programmes in in the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany. From 2000-2004 I’ve acted as one of the founding members and as a module coordinator for the “MA Design Management”, Inholland University/NL.

In 2003 I’ve conducted a research project for the “Zollverein School of management and design” in Essen/Germany in the area of Quality and Quantity monitoring of Design Management programmes. Currently I’m developing a new post-graduate “Master of Design Management” programme for them.

Furthermore I’m working as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University Business School (OUBS)/UK. As an adjunct member of the OUBS I conduct workshops for the prestigious course: “B820 Strategy” which is a compulsory part of the post-graduate MBA programme. The Open University/UK is the largest business school in Europe and the largest MBA provider in the world medaled with triple a accreditation (EQUIS, AMBA, AACSB) for their programme.

In March 2007 I’ve been nominated as a Professor for Design Management at the design faculty of the University of applied sciences in Münster/Germany. My main research interest at the intersection of Design and Business is the competitive sustainability of design-related resources.

Since 1998 I run this site www.design-management.de and for more than 2 years now I’m writing columns for this blog :: Vol. 2: design-management.de ::, the first blog worldwide dedicated to the field of “Design, Management and Business Issues around designmanagement”.

While I’ve started the blog with one-digit visitor numbers in 2003 today the site gains some 35.000+ unique visits per month from all over the world. (A warm “Thank You” to my readers for your ongoing interest and support!)

Currently I’m living with my family in Münster, Germany, where I also work as a design management consultant within a distinguished network of partners.
